Scientific Committee

The Scientific Committee will be responsible for reviewing and approving abstracts to be presented at the Conference.

Specific Roles

  • Review and approve the criteria for reviewing abstracts for oral and poster presentations at the Conference.
  • Review submitted abstracts and select the ones to be approved for final oral and poster presentation. (The proposed criteria for good abstracts are provided below).
  • Communicate to IPPF ARO on approved abstracts, and applicants confirming or rejecting abstracts, and providing guidelines for presentations of papers and posters.
  • Group approved presentations/abstracts and present to the Conference Organizing Committee suggestions for incorporation into the final conference program.
  • Review the summary of abstracts and authors for inclusion into conference program.
  • Publicize 4th Africa Conference in their respective organizations/ countries so as to increase the profile of the conference within and outside Africa.
  • Provide technical assistance (if requested) leading to and during the conference

Proposed Criteria/checklist for reviewing and short listing abstracts

  • Relevance of the topic chosen to the conference theme and sub themes, and to sexuality discourse in Africa.
  • Link between the topic and the conference theme and to MDGs.
  • Abstract presents current/latest research or studies.
  • Abstract presents lessons that can be replicated in other situations.
  • Adherence to the call for abstracts guidelines.
