 Adenike Esiet, sociologist and youth health advocate, is Co-founder and Executive Director of Action Health Incorporated, Nigeria. Since 1989, she has contributed to building AHI from an idea into a vibrant organization that combines community based programming with national policy advocacy for sexual health and rights. She led AHI’s policy advocacy initiatives which engendered national consciousness and action resulting in the production of the National Sexuality Education Curriculum in 2001. She has also served on WHO’s Gender Advisory Panel, the National AIDS and STD Control Programme’s Technical Advisory Committee and currently is a member of the National Adolescent Health Working Group and the University of Columbia- based International Working Group on Sexuality and Social Policy. She is a 1992 recipient of the Ashoka International Fellowship for Public Innovators
