Plenary Speaker: Jane Amavi Kwawu

Jane Amavi KwawuimageMrs. Kwawu, a Ghanaian, has over 30 years international work experience in women and youth socio economic and political development. She is an expert in social development, education and skill training in gender mainstreaming, youth sexual and reproductive health and rights including HIV/AIDS, Gender Based violence and Women’s Rights.

She has international outlook of the issues and practically addresses gender equality, equity and women empowerment effectively in national policies and strategic programming as well as gender mainstreaming in organizational development. She is well acknowledged as an African Woman Leader and a gender activist with a professional voice and insight in finding practical solutions for African women and girls’ issues.

In International Work, she served as a Trainer and Gender Adviser for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in the Centre for African Family Studies –CAFS and IPPF Africa Regional Office in Nairobi. She served enthusiastically as Gender Consultant in Economic Community for West Africa (ECOWAS) under a Technical Cooperation Agreement with United Nations Development Fund for Women UNIFEM West Africa Office to develop a West African Gender Policy and established a Gender Management System for. ECOWAS. She is currently Gender Consultant for the African Union –AU

She serves in World Health Organization (WHO) Technical Advisory committees for Adolescent, Gender and Health and a member of the World Association for Sexual Health. Jane is the current Vice President for the International Association of Adolescent Health (IAAH) ad Executive Member of the Africa Sexual Health Rights Network AFSHR. Jane is currently an Independent Gender and Youth Consultant.
