 Ms. Maguire has served as Ipas President and CEO since September 1999, significantly expanding the organization’s resource base, technical and field capacity, as well as its geographic scope and impact during her tenure. Ms. Maguire brings 35 years of professional experience and commitment to the reproductive health field, including over two decades with the family planning assistance program of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). She was Director of USAID’s Office of Population from 1993 to 1999 and served on the US delegation to the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) and ICPD+5, as well as delegations to UNFPA and the UN Commission on Population and Development. Ms. Maguire led USAID’s population program in the development of new initiatives in family planning/reproductive health policy and service delivery, including post-abortion care, and gender and women’s empowerment. She is a recipient of numerous awards, including USAID’s Distinguished Career Service Award. Ms. Maguire has traveled widely in every region, with extensive work experience in North and Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America. She holds an MA degree in Sociology/Demography from Georgetown University and is proficient in four languages.
