Dr. Sarah Onyango is the Africa Regional Director of Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), a position she has held since June 2003. She has many years of experience in the health sector, having worked both in the public and private sectors, at national and regional level. Her strength and interests are in sexual and reproductive health and rights programming, and addressing the poor reproductive health outcomes for women in Africa.

 Dr. Onyango has led and managed sexual and reproductive health programs in many countries in the continent, focusing on issues of unsafe abortion, adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights, and sexual and reproductive health of refugees and internally displaced persons. As an SRH activist, Dr. Onyango is actively engaged in activities and programs to address the retrogressive SRH policies and laws in the continent.

 Before joining PPFA, Dr. Onyango was the country representative for Ipas in Kenya and worked closely with the Africa Alliance for Reproductive Health and Rights to build advocacy to change reproductive health laws and policies in the region. She also worked with the Kenya Ministry of Health as the Manager of the National Immunization Program.

Dr. Onyango is a medical doctor, with a Masters in Public Health from the University of Nairobi, Kenya.
